Discussion with Dancer and Pedagogue Ivan Krob
The Pavel Šmok Institute is launching a series entitled Wandering Through Dance History: A series of lectures, discussions, and screenings on the history of the dance ensembles Ballet Prague, Prague Chamber Ballet, and their founding members.
The theme of our meeting will be: Balet Praha – dance in small forms
and we will meet on May 5 at 3:00 p.m.
Venue: Pavel Šmok Institute and Endowment Fund, Dance Art Centre in Braník
Guest: Ivan Krob, dancer and teacher, soloist with Ballet Prague
The first independent dance company in Czechoslovakia – a dance theater of small forms: that was Studio Ballet Prague. Modern choreography, foreign tours, life on the road, the exciting 1960s. How did Czech dancers get into a Viennese musical? And why did they start to feel like “stagecoach horses”? We will recall the importance of choreographers Pavel Šmok and Luboš Ogoun, but you can also look forward to authentic memories.
The program is hosted by dance journalist and historian Lucie Kocourková.
Admission: CZK 60
