Discussion with Ballet Star Jiří Bubeníček
He was a world-renowned ballet soloist and is now an internationally acclaimed choreographer: Jiří Bubeníček will be a guest at the Pavel Šmok Institute for a discussion on January 28 at the Municipal Library. Although he works primarily abroad, this year he has prepared two full-length ballets for domestic companies: La Strada, based on Fellini’s film, for the Prague Chamber Ballet, and the dance drama Cyrano de Bergerac for the National Theater Ballet in Brno. We will talk to Jiří not only about these productions – there will also be space for you, the audience and ballet lovers.
When and where: January 28, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. in the Small Hall of the Municipal Library on Mariánské náměstí in Prague. Admission: CZK 100
We will talk about how dramatic ballets are created and what a dancer must master in order to succeed in today’s demanding profession.
How has the world of dance and ballet changed during Jiří Bubeníček’s dancing career? What challenges did he face as a performer and what challenges does he face today as a creator? What inspires him and drives him forward? Don’t be afraid to ask questions!
