Workshop How to Capture the Memory of Dance – Invitation and programme

At the end of May, the Pavel Šmok Institute is preparing a two-day professional workshop “How to Capture the Memory of Dance”.

As a private institution dedicated to safeguarding memory, we wish to exchange our experience with other organizations and experts from abroad, wherefore we have decided to organize a meeting at the Dance Art Centre in Prague. The two-day event will take place on 27 and 28 May and will be attended by experts specialising in the creation and keeping of theatre and dance archives.

We will welcome guests from Slovakia, Germany, and the Netherlands. The programme is composed of lectures or presentations, yet the main aim is to meet in person, get to know each other, and share information about our work. Since we focus on similar issues, we seek inspiration from experienced researchers and larger institutions, such as the Deutsches Tanzarchiv Köln, and open the meeting to other interested parties. Our topics include cataloguing systems, digitisation and preservation of digital data, cybersecurity, and database software solutions.

If you are interested in meeting experts on (not only) dance archives, please register at kocourkova@institutpavlasmoka.cz – the workshop is free of charge for registered guests!

The project has received financial support from the National Recovery Plan.
